The purpose of our project is to express and add to the pinching effect our site, Mount Rubidoux in Riverside, is doing. Our design does the same by pinching inward and slowly expanding outward following the sites' path. The butterfly roof brings that pinching moment together and then releases the visitor to the rest of the path. This pavilion not only gives a sense of direction and flow to the site but offers a place for rest with seating and shade.
At the end of the semester, my partner and I each created an abstract conceptual drawing. This is a section of our design and it captures our concept by demonstrating that strong pinching moment following the mountain's slope and the site's path.
